Pistons Honor Fallen Soldier................Weusi Olusola

THANK YOU DETROIT PISTONS ORGANIZATION FOR HONORING WEUSI OLUSOLA, PRESIDENT OF PIONEERS FOR PEACE, WITH HIS VERY OWN AUTHENTIC PISTONS JERSEY EMBEDDED WITH HIS NAME & #09!!!!!!!!

For those of you who are unaware, Weusi Olusola lost his battle with bladder cancer the same day as Pistons owner The Great Bill Davidson. Weusi was an 16 year old All State Basketball star here in Detroit, when he became a victim to gun violence, shot four times leaving him paralyzed. Because of this incident for the last 20 years he has unselfishly dedicated his life to the youth raising the awareness of gun violence, letting the children know that they have a choice.

For the last seven years the DETROIT PISTONS and DETROIT SHOCK have participated in Celebrity Wheelchair Basketball Games fundraiser for Pioneers of Peace organization.

Prior to his transition he was recently honored on March 7, 2009 by Park West Foundation with a lifetime achievement award, one of numerous prestigious awards bestowed upon him that day. Joanne Watson, Detroit City Council declared March 7 "Weusi's Day in the City of Detroit. Hundreds of people came together in his honor.

I must say that it was a pleasure knowing such a great man who touched the lives of so many individuals with his inspiration and his perseverance. For him, life had no limitations despite of his inability to walk. He was a soldier, a warrior, a husband, a father, a teacher and most importantly a friend. He will be greatly missed, though he will not be here physically he will be spiritually. I thank God for his 38 years that he was given to us he has done what most will not do in a lifetime, and now we must continue his fight against violence however we can!!!

Thank You Weusi for what you have done, for what you have given and for all that you will continue to give through your work and your legacy, I honor you my friend..............
